History Lesson
St. Germaine
School has always been a key part of the mission of
St. Germaine Parish. The parish was established by
Father Walter Sheridan on July 27, 1962. One of the
first projects for the new parish was establishing a
parish school. The Sisters of the Presentation
from Dubuque, Iowa, promised
to send sisters to
staff the school beginning in September of 1964.
In August 1963, the Sisters arrived; Sister Mary
Philip (the first principal), Sister Mary Emilie,
Sister Magdalen and Sister Richard Marie. This
wonderful Order of Sisters organized our school
efficiently, and dedicated their time and talents
toward every facet of the education of our children.
School was opened in September, 1964 with an
enrollment of 250 pupils in the first four grades.
The Present
Over the years,
St. Germaine Parish supported building and
improvements projects that have provided us with a
wonderful school complex. Our facilities are
attractive, well-maintained, and include an
outstanding physical education center and state of
the art computer lab.
Currently, our
school serves 377 students in our pre-school through
grade eight program.
